Am I the only one out there who doesn't really have anything going on this weekend? Perhaps that's a result of not really having access to husband this weekend (have I mentioned that football has started?? Ok, maybe once or twice....).
The only real thing on our agenda is a surprise party tomorrow night for a friend of ours. We genuinely like him & his family, not sure how we really fit in with the rest of the crew. I'm not one to idolize people, or puff them up un-necessarily. Which, as one might imagine, does not go over well with some. I'd rather be down to earth and real. If we click, awesome -- if we don't, no big deal. Just don't be fake with me...because for sure that is one thing I can not stand. Any one else with me?!
Let's cross our fingers hubby & I make it to the baseball game -- it'll be a nice change from our typical stay at home Friday nights.
Have a great weekend friends!

A Full Weekend -- Can't Complain!
This past weekend was incredibly full! Literally had maybe only a couple of hours to myself on Sunday. Other than that it was jam packed!
Friday night -- cousin's wedding in Milwaukie, it was pretty, definitely fit my cousin (& aunt), saw old high school friends, high school teachers and spent the night with family (especially favorite cousin Tasha & husband Chad).
Saturday -- work at the Bridal Gallery in the morning (love going in there - the girls that work there are wonderful, so fun & funny!), quick trip home and an hour to rest then it was off to the Keizer Iris Festival Tent with 2 of our favorite couples! It was great. And I just love the KeizerFest - it always reminds me how much I love Keizer and growing up/living in Keizer. It's kind of dorky to stand in a HUGE tent and see basically everyone in town and know pretty much the whole tent, but there's something fun about that too. Our friends the Johnson's had never been before, so I explained many of the nuances and fun facts about the festival & the highlights of growing up in such a small town.
Sunday -- church in the morning, quick trip to the office and then home to nap for a few hours. YoungLife meeting about camp (well...we didn't talk about camp much, but that was supposed to be the goal), and then GIRLS NIGHT at a local restaurant for half off appetizers! Girl time is so precious...and because of them & their encouragement I was convicted (in a good way) to go home and have an honest conversation with hubby Isaac. Love those two girls Mo & Lauren...they're rock stars.
Alright back to my studying & random work projects... Hope you're well friends!

Friendships, Fun, & Dancing
That is what the majority of my weekend consisted of.
Spent Friday night with some great friends (an old YL kid of mine -- who's now becoming a great friend) & she & her boyfriend taught us Parkers how to play pinochle! Let me tell you! That is one confusing game when you first start, but it sure is fun! I wish I had my camera with me to show you the scores...at one point Morgan and I went from 900 some points down to minus 20! Sheesh! We had so much fun we didn't leave until 1am!
Saturday was so fun & filled with friends & laughter. The day really began at a BBQ thrown by the weighs teacher from the school my husband teaches at. A bunch of other teachers & coaches gathered for some great food, good drinks, and lots of laughter. It was really fun - probably the most fun staff BBQ I've been to with Isaac. Then it was quickly off to meet up with another coach & his wife, along with another couple who's kids are on Isaac's football team at the local Bite & Brew festival downtown. It was so much fun too! A Neil Diamond cover band (named Super Diamond...check them out! So fun!) was playing & everyone was dancing & having a great time. The night was going so well - that our whole group headed off to the local country & western bar for some dancing. Hilarity ensued while I sat with the two other ladies cracking up at the antics of the other girls at this bar...who were obviously overly intoxicated... But everyone danced & had a great time.
I hadn't had that type of weekend in such a long time... It was so nice to be with friends, relaxing, enjoying life. I love the summer...everything is so much more fun!

Filled to the Brim
This past weekend was so full, and so much fun - I even had a couple chances to sneak in a nap here and there. But it was so fun!
Isaac's dad Vernon got in LATE Friday night - so late in fact that I was already in bed. I had an early morning run to prep for. So I awoke bright & early for my 6 mile run at a local park with my running group, and man I felt good! Probably one of the best runs I've had in a while. I was a bit tired, but the good kind of tired - where you know you've been working but could still keep going. And it was great because my dear friend Kathryn was finally able to join us for her first Saturday training run (she's doing the Nike Women's Half Marathon w/ us in October). It was the first time Kathryn had run like we do - we do a run/walk combo... run for 3min, walk for 1min. So like myself, at the end she felt great - normally she says she just runs as hard and for as long as she can.
Because we were feeling so good - she suggested we hit up a zumba class at our local Courthouse. "Sure, why not?" I chime in... Now I had never experienced Zumba, even though I really have wanted to. Let me just say that it is a VERY fun class, super high energy - and after a 6.5mile run, I was hot, sweaty, red faced (thank you Scandanavian genetics), and exhausted! But all in all - so much fun!
Zumba was followed up by a quick shower & then a quick trip to the outlet mall for Kathryn. One sweater purchase & mostly window shopping. Mostly it was nice to be outside and in the sun with a great friend. Life was so good - and followed up by a quick nap & dinner w/ hubby Isaac & Vernon.
Sunday.... ahh Sunday, lazy morning, trip to Costco, cleaned the house, took a great nap, & then helped my honey cook dinner for our fathers. We were anxious to eat on our newly finished back deck (All thanks to my wonderfully handy husband!) but the weather was a bit too chilly for an evening dinner outside -- thanks Oregon weather! Sheesh! Isaac is truly a renaissance man - he builds & he cooks. Our dinner was outstanding! Steak, Salmon, Shrimp, macaroni salad, green salad, & ice cream w/ fresh strawberries. He rocks!
It was so nice to be surrounded by life giving things & people I love all weekend long. It really made me thankful for the family I have & the one Isaac & I are creating. What a blessing they are.
Here's to another weekend...hopefully this week goes by quickly! ;)
